Volcanic mud is the plant’s second raw material and a different substance from the lake mud. It comes from the mud volcanoes and mudflats of the Turkmen Caspian coast, where these formations have been building for millions of years.

Its distinguishing feature is trace-element content. The producer states the volcanic muds are enriched with rare earth elements — caesium, beryllium, thallium, germanium and indium among them — and that the material is free of macro- and micro-faunal impurities. It is used in resort and cosmetic practice, and the plant cites application in skin, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal treatment as well as spa work.

If you are choosing between the two muds: the lake mud is the brine peloid with the sanatorium history, while this one is the rare-earth-bearing volcanic material.
