Liquefied petroleum gases produced at the Türkmenbašy refinery to TDS 829-2016 in three grades — PT (technical propane), SPBT (technical propane–butane mix) and BT (technical butane) — for domestic and industrial fuel use. All three are odorised, free of water and alkali, and limited to 0.013% hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan sulfur.
Specification
- Grades: PT (technical propane), SPBT (propane–butane mix) and BT (technical butane)
- Standard: TDS 829-2016, liquefied petroleum gases for domestic use
- Saturated vapour pressure at +45 °C: max 1.6 MPa, all grades
- Hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan sulfur: max 0.013%, of which hydrogen sulfide max 0.003%
- Free water and alkali: none · odour intensity: min 3 points
- Loading: bulk in pressurised rail tank cars and road tankers, cylinders on request
Grades
PT — Technical Propane
Sum of propane and propylene min 75%. Liquid residue at 20 °C max 0.7%, the tightest of the three. Saturated vapour pressure min 0.16 MPa at −20 °C, which is what makes PT the grade that still vaporises reliably in cold weather. HS 2711.12.
SPBT — Technical Propane–Butane Mix
Sum of butanes and butylenes min 60%, liquid residue at 20 °C max 1.6%. By agreement between producer and buyer, SPBT may instead be produced with a propane and propylene content of not less than 60% — the propane-rich blend. SPBT is the grade behind almost all export cargoes; the mix supplied for export is covered separately.
BT — Technical Butane
Sum of butanes and butylenes min 60%, liquid residue at 20 °C max 1.8%. No minimum vapour pressure at −20 °C is specified, so BT is the warm-climate and industrial grade. HS 2711.13.
