Ring compact and penye

Both qualities are Nm 68/1. Ring compact is compact-spun ring yarn — fewer protruding fibres, so the sateen face comes up clean and lustrous at 130 g/m². Penye is combed, which takes the short fibres out altogether: stronger yarn, fuller hand, less pilling, and it carries the heavier 135 and 145 g/m² builds. Penye is the grade specified for hotel supply and the upper retail tiers.

Plain and stripe

The stripe is woven into the cloth as a satin-faced band, not printed on it, so it survives industrial laundering and does not fade off-pattern. Plain sateen is the printing base; the stripe builds are usually finished as they are.

Applications

The base cloth behind most of the bed linen Turkmenistan exports — sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases — plus pyjama and homewear ranges, and hotel linen in the penye builds. The loom-state builds go to dyeing and printing houses; the dyed and printed builds are ready to cut and sew.
